Davy Jones in the Catskills

This was always one of my favorite articles to read about Davy Jones for a number of reasons.

Sitting or laying outdoors in the grass, in the sun or under my trees in the backyard, I would frequently come back to this article again and again and happily re-read it, as I were reliving it. Unlike many teen idol articles which seem fabricated at worst/exaggerated at best, this one holds verisimilitude and I would guess is mostly, if not entirely, real.

I have always loved the Catskills and frequently drive there with my sister Jalom to look at the beautiful mountains or reflect on the past resorts which are all but completely gone–many rotting facades, mildewed skeletons, some burned to the ground. This particular resort referenced in this article–The Raleigh–remarkably still exists and is still running–I have seen it a couple of times driving past, and there is a New York Times article about it. 🙂
